Double Dollar Deals for 9/10/09

At 9AM each Thursday, WCTV (Tallahassee) offers 100 gift certificates to various merchants at half-price. For example, you can purchase a $50 gift certificate for $25 (plus a small shipping and handling charge). My family loves to eat out and my husband and I LOVE our date nights, so we use the restaurant gift certificates regularly. They come in the mail a week or so after ordering and usually have an expiration date of approximately one year from the date of purchase. Tip: Check back throughout the week. If they don't sell out, they'll usually discount the certificates to $10 for $50 worth of food/stuff!!!!!
Fine print and ordering information here.

Week of 9/10/2009: Seminole Bowl
I'm so excited about this deal! Fun place to take the kids, but heavy on the pocketbook. This will make for a frugal family night out.

Kids Woot!

I think Kid's Woot deserves special mentioning today. If you're a Woot fan and have kids of your own, this site is a great way to get some daily Woot deals for your kids. If you've never used Woot before, the premise is basically this: every night at midnight the site resets to sell a new deal at a cheap price. Quantities are limited, so when they're gone, they're gone. If you like what you see, click on the "I want one" button and order away. Then check back the next day to see a new deal. Simple and fun.

T.G.I.Friday's does it again!

T.G.I.Friday's has really been handing out the coupons lately. Click here for a printable BOGO valid through 9/7/09.

Everybody loves a little Chick-fil-a

Chick-fil-a is offering a free chicken sandwich for the first 250,000 that sign up here. Use this on your local "kids eat free night" (in Tallahassee it's Tuesday), and you've got yourself a super cheap dinner.

Old Navy -- Cheap kids socks and adult t-shirts

Old Navy is having yet another one of their "One Day Wonder" sales this Saturday (8/22). Adult Basic T's are $3 (Limit 5) and Kids/Toddler socks for $1 (Limit 5 as well). If you can brave the crowds, you're braver than I am this week. My kids need socks, but this was my first week back to work and I just don't have it in me to get to the mall early. Happy shopping!

Cleanin' Out My Closet: A1 Steak Sauce Burgers

Since we don't usually eat steak in my house, we pretty much have no need for steak sauce. But....when it's free, the frugal gal inside just takes over and buys as many as I can. So, in search of something to do with all this A1 Steak Sauce in my pantry, I created this recipe. Hubby and kids ate them all. No leftovers!!!

Note: I doubled this recipe to feed my family of 5 and served with oven baked fries and coleslaw (BOGO at Publix this week).

A1 Steak Sauce Burgers
Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 6 tbsp. A1 steak sauce, divided
  • 1 egg
  • cheese (I used provolone)
  • hamburger buns
Directions
  • Preheat grill (or indoor grill).
  • Combine ground beef, 3 tbsp. steak sauce, and egg.
  • Form into patties.
  • Grill until internal temperature reaches 160 degrees.
  • Top with cheese, preferred toppings, and remaining A1 sauce.
  • Serve on buns.
